Rahm Emmanuel and Terry McAuliffe Can Suck It

So can the rest of the DLC crowd, who brought us such fantastic successes as Joe Lieberman and… actually, you know what? Going on is just beating a dead horse. Joe Lieberman alone is bad enough.

But I’ll go on anyway. The 2006 Democratic victory in Congress happened in spite of these people, not because of them. If they had their way, we’d have essentially given up on trying for a real majority win and focussed on a small number of relatively safe races. If their plan succeeded, Democrats might have closed the gap with the Republicans and maybe still won the House.

Of course, fortunately for the country, Howard Dean was in charge of the Democratic Party proper, not any of those bozos. So, in the end, we ended up with a Democratic Senate (on a technicality — thanks for fucking nothing, Joe Lieberman) and a completely sweep of the House. The last election was absolutely Howard Dean’s show.

Blame Jill for bringing it up by highlighting early indications that Dean’s fundraising strategy is bringing in way more money than in previous years. Part of that is just a natural function of having won the election, sure… but let’s remember who won that election for the Democrats, shall way?

It’s funny, in a way Howard Dean is probably doing more for having lost the 2004 primaries than he might have done had he won them. I raise a glass of bourbon to the Deaniac! Huzzah!
